Types Of FIBC Bags: A, B, C & D FIBC Types Defined.

For starters, FIBC stands for Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container, or bulk bag. But knowing the different types of FIBC bags ensures you have the perfect solution for your business or need. We’re here to simplify it for you. Read below the different options and find out which is best for your job, or pick up the phone and give us a call.

What Are the Various Types of FIBC Bags?

There are four main types of FIBC bags: Type A, B, C, and D. When filling or emptying a big bag, the movement of the materials inside can create static electricity. Managing this buildup is very important, especially when handling flammable or combustible materials, as it helps prevent safety risks. For non-flammable materials, static buildup is usually not an issue.

At SACK Trading Limited, we offer a wide range of FIBC bags, including all four types, designed to meet various industrial needs. Whether you need a standard PP bag or a specialized static-control solution, we provide reliable, high-quality packaging options that prioritize safety and efficiency for your operations.

Type A FIBC Bags – No Electrostatic Protection

Type A FIBC bags, made from woven polypropylene (woven PP), do not provide any static protection. When materials are filled into or emptied from these big bags, static electricity is generated as the materials rub against the bag’s inner surface. Since Type A bags lack static protection, they should never be used to store or transport combustible materials or in environments with flammable or combustible substances.

At SACK Trading Limited, we ensure that you get the right FIBC bag for your specific needs, prioritizing safety and quality in every product we offer.

Type B FIBC Bags – Surface Breakdown Voltage Less Than 6kV

Similar to Type A FIBC bags, Type B big bags do not have the ability to dissipate static electricity. However, the key difference is that Type B bulk bags are made from materials with a low breakdown voltage. This design helps prevent dangerous propagating brush discharges (PBD) from occurring. While Type B bags can stop PBD, they are not considered antistatic FIBC bags because they cannot dissipate electrostatic charges. Regular brush discharges can still happen, posing a risk of igniting flammable solvent vapors.

At SACK Trading Limited, we offer a wide variety of FIBC bags and PP bags designed to meet your specific requirements, ensuring safety and reliability for every application.

Type C FIBC Bags – Electrically
Conductive and Groundable

Type C FIBC bags, also known as conductive or groundable big bags, were originally made entirely from conductive materials. Today, these FIBC bags are typically crafted from non-conductive polypropylene (PP) interwoven with conductive yarns, often arranged in a grid pattern. For safe use, it is essential that the conductive yarns are interconnected and properly grounded. However, since grounding and interconnection rely on manual processes, there is always a risk of human error.

At SACK Trading Limited, we provide high-quality Type C big bags designed with safety and efficiency in mind, ensuring reliable performance for your specific needs.

Type D FIBC Bags – Crohmiq Static Dissipative and Antistatic

Anti-static FIBC bags, also known as big bags, are made from static-protective fabric designed to prevent incendiary sparks, brush discharges, and propagating brush discharges. Unlike Type C FIBC bags, anti-static big bags do not require a ground or earth connection for safe use. Constructed using CROHMIQ fabric, these bulk bags eliminate the risk of grounding failures, which is a common concern with conductive Type C FIBC bags.

At SACK Trading Limited, we provide high-quality anti-static FIBC bags designed to ensure safety and reliability for handling sensitive materials. Whether you need PP bags or advanced anti-static solutions, we have the right packaging to meet your needs.

COATED VS. UNCOATED.

FIBC bags, also known as big bags, are widely used across various industries for different applications. The choice between coated and uncoated FIBC bags depends on the type of product you need to store or transport. At SACK Trading Limited, we provide high-quality coated and uncoated PP bags to meet the unique requirements of your business.

Coated FIBCs are made with a laminated layer of polypropylene film, offering a moisture barrier, dust protection, and improved weave stability. These features make coated big bags ideal for transporting and storing dry, free-flowing products in granule, powder, or crystal forms.

Applications for Coated FIBC Bags:

  • Flour, detergents, and salt
  • Fine minerals such as sand and sugar
  • Various chemicals, glass, steel, and milled corn

With our range of reliable FIBC bags, SACK Trading Limited ensures you get the best packaging solutions tailored to your needs.

UNCOATED:
Uncoated FIBCs are made without a layer of lamination that coated bags have. Their weave construction allows air to pass through. Various weave designs are available for highly specialized breathable and ventilation applications.

APPLICATIONS:
Uncoated bags are typically utilized for:

  • Products that require breathability
  • Food products, such as potatoes, onions, peanuts, tree nuts, coffee beans, etc.
  • Minerals such as rocks, gravel, sand, etc.

Various Styles of FIBC Bags

4-PANEL

The industry standard design features four separate panels sewn together at the seams, with an additional single piece securely stitched to form the bottom.

U-PANEL

A single piece of fabric creates three sides: two opposite sides and the bottom. Two additional panels are then stitched to the main piece to complete the bag’s structure.

CIRCULAR

A single piece of fabric is used to form all four sides of the bag, with separate pieces stitched to the top and bottom to complete the design.

BAFFLE

Baffle bags feature extra fabric panels sewn into each corner, helping the bag maintain its square shape when filled.

30% MORE CAPACITY

Baffle bags can hold up to 30% more volume within the same footprint, providing improved stability for stacking and better space optimization during storage and transportation.

FIBC BAGS: LOOP CONSTRUCTION

CORNER LOOP

Each loop is securely stitched into the corner seams of the bag.

CROSS CORNER

Each loop is stitched onto one side of the FIBC bag.

DOUBLE STEVEDORE

Two straps are threaded through each set of lift loops, enabling easy handling with a forklift.

SINGLE STEVEDORE

A single strap is threaded through all four loops, allowing lifting from multiple sides.

SLEEVE LIFT

Constructed from the same woven polypropylene as the bag, they are designed specifically for forklift use.

OPEN TOP

A standard bulk bag design with an open top, as the name suggests.

DUFFLE TOP

A lightweight top panel designed to improve filling options and provide a secure closure.

SPOUT TOP

A cylindrical spout is sewn onto the top panel of the bag, making it ideal for more precise applications.

SPOUT TOP w/ FLAP

A cylindrical spout top with an additional flap provides extra coverage and protection over the sealed spout.

CONICAL SPOUT TOP

A cylindrical spout top featuring a high filling cone, designed for specialized applications.

FIBC BAGS: LOOP CONSTRUCTION

PLAIN BOTTOM

A standard bottom design with no discharge mechanism.

DISCHARGE SPOUT

A standard discharge spout designed for easy and efficient removal of the bag’s contents.

SPOUT TOP

A standard discharge spout allows for simple and efficient emptying of the bag’s contents.

DISCHARGE SPOUT w/ FLAP

A standard discharge spout with an added flap provides easy removal of the bag’s contents while offering extra coverage for protection.

DUFFLE BOTTOM

A lightweight bottom panel designed for quick and easy discharge of the bag’s contents.
